Well, Campers, I’m back from Procrastinator’s Camp, where I taught a seminar in Advanced Procrastinating. Well, actually I meant to, but I just never got around to it ...
Actually, I was busy with an Otakon meeting, getting the Video Schedule slightly less unprepared, and going to Florida for the wedding of my friend Daniel Antonov (BTW, Spidey Ride=Kakkoii!). Afterwards, my Mom and I took his parents to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where we figured the language barrier would be less of a problem than some of the other attractions (did I mention they’re from the former Soviet state of Moldova?). Mom took Russian last semester (one of the perks of being a college professor) but forgot most of it, and I learned what little Russian I know from Colossus (though I didn’t know how to pronounce “Boszhe Moi” until I heard it in a B5 episode), so ... (it means “My God,” BTW)
Anyway, the Antonovs seemed to enjoy themselves, I bought a Dai Majin figure, some Jelly Babies and Dolly Mix, and a new fedora (Mom wouldn’t let me buy a neuralizer or green eggs and ham), and I now have a backlog of Otakon work, the financial need to get as many hours as I can at work, and an unwieldy number of webcomics to catch up on (need...cable...modem!). Anyway, on to the strip!
As you may have guessed, I’m very excited at the prospect of an actual Quidditch video game (as opposed to RPG’s with some limited Quidditch segments where all you do is fly through hoops, dodge bludgers, and chase snitches), especially from a company as highly esteemed, sportswise, as Electronic Arts. Multiplayer and the ability to play any positions (I wanna try Beating!) are, I hope, givens, but I suppose networked or online play, allowing two full teams (14 players - Yipe! 2.5 consoles?), is probably too much to ask for (at least for the ’Cube). Actually, it only mentions “two gamers,” but it’s still too early to take that as the final word.
Okay, time to bitch belatedly about The Matrix Reloaded: I liked it. Sure, it should have been shorter, especially the celebration scene (a lot of people have called it a rave, but I cannot in good conscience call it that, as I could find no glow sticks or solid proof of MDMA usage). As far as the inconsistencies go, I’ll have to re-watch the first film (some “violations” may merely be misinterpretations) and waith until the third comes out (additional revelations may clear up misconceptions). I also wanna use silk as toilet paper. Just once.
Oh yeah, I finally have the rant for four weeks ago up!
