Blah blah blah Comixpedia blah blah blah justice is dead blah blah blah Hoody Hoo!
In other news, if you don’t get the reference in today’s strip, you’d better not call yourself an anime fan.
I finally remember what I wanted to rant about on Tuesday! Have you ever noticed how certain foods don’t seem to exist any more? I used to love eating P.B. Max candy bars, but I can no longer do so because I can no longer find them anywhere. Same with Hershey’s Big Block bars. This isn’t that unusual, I suppose. Hershey’s is, after all, a big company, and I’m sure it’s difficult, if not impossible, for most stores to carry their full line of products (one rarely sees Reese’s Crunchy, for example, but I’m pretty sure they still make it), and it’s equally likely that they discontinued the Big Block line, perhaps because they were just thicker versions of products they already made.
The disappearance of P.B. Max is even easier to theorize: I don’t remember the company that made it, but I’m reasonably sure it wasn’t one of the Big manufacturers (definitely not Hershey or Nestlé). It’s possible they went out of business, or equally possibly they were merely squeezed off local shelves by the bigger companies increasing their already prodigious output. Besides, the two places I usually bought them from went out of business, and again I can’t remember if I ever bought or found this candy bar anywhere else.
Stranger, IMHO, is the apparent disappearance of another food: Pudding Pops. Yes, I know that technically “Pudding Pops™” is a brand name (a registered trademark of the Jell-O® corporation), but the only generic term I know is “Frozen Pudding On A Stick,” which is entirely too unwieldy, not to mention one adjective away from sounding politically correct (maybe abbreviate it to FPOAS? Nah ...). Brand name being used as a generic term aside, Pudding Pops were manufactured by several companies. There was Jell-O, of course, Swiss Miss Pudding Bars, Popsicle’s Goodin’ Puddin’ and I’m sure any number of lesser local copycats. At any rate, there seemed far too many brands of far too popular a product for it to just disappear.
Like Butter Brickle ice cream. Actually Friendly’s may still make this flavor (albeit under the name “Butter Crunch”), but I haven’t had a chance to buy some and test my theory since lately I’ve either been broke or working. Again, it just seems odd that such a ubiquitous flavor would just vanish. Maybe it disappeared to make room for all the attempts at copying Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. If this is true, then they definitelyshould have stuck with making Butter Brickle.
And why haven’t I seen any Daredevil toys? I want a little Daredevil to perch on the little gargoyle my little Spider-Man is hanging from.
Well, that’s all I can think of for today, Campers (especially given how late the rant is). I’ll see you Saturday.
