Finally, after way too many months of turkeys, sketchbooks and nothing at all (mostly the latter...), We’ve got “normal” strippage! This particular strip (written by Jeff, in case you’re really unobservant or something) is inspired by the fact that some hard-core American otaku with far too much money will only buy Japanese anime DVD’s because they supposedly have better picture quality. Now while it's true that in some cases, particularly far too many early CPM releases, the American companies just used their VHS/LD masters and then did a so-so mastering job on top of it, but in most cases they use the same remastered masters as the Japanese releases (albeit sometimes with “blank” credits). In some cases, such as many ADV releases, the American company does the remastering and the Japanese company just uses that for their own releases. Then there’s this, exreme... In other news, have you heard about this? |
