That’s No Comic Strip, That’s a Nephew! |
As threatened, here are some photos of my nephew as well as his parents, my brother-in-law and sister. I’ll assume you’re smart enough to figure out which is which (HINT: my nephew sometimes wears a hat). Now that that’s out of the way, I’d best do some fanboy ranting, and fortunately I have the very thing to inspire such a rant: The Spider-Man DVD! I haven’t checked out all of it yet, but mostly it’s great. Sure, I could gripe about the fact that the main commentary track switches between Sam (Director) Raimi & Grant (Co-Producer) Curtis, and Laura (Producer) Ziskin & Kirsten (MJ) Dunst, but I’ll give ’em the benefit of the doubt and assume that the most interesting and informative parts were chosen (not unlikely, as there are many bits with no comments whatsoever). There’s really only one real complaint I have: the absence of two trailers (or is that two complaints?). I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised by the teaser trailer’s absence. It has the World Trade Center in it, and even more than a year later, people are still afraid of people being offended by the very presence of those buildings. Jeff tells me it’ll be on the Superbit release, since “They figure J6P won’t buy the Superbit version,” to which I must add that they also figure JFB (or, let’s face it, E. BFB) will complain but nevertheless buy both versions just to get the banned footage. Sadly, they’re probably right... At least I can understand their reasons, though I don’t agree with them, for excluding the teaser. What I don’t get in the slightest is the omission of the original full length trailer. You know, the one I sat through an episode of Temptation Island to see? Please tell me if it’s actually somewhere to be found on this two disc set. I would love to be proven wrong. BTW, here are some Easter Eggs. Oh, and in case anyone cares, I’ve been forced to spam-trap my email links. |
