While playing around with some search engines, I discovered that the name of this comic isn’t entirely unique. I would like to assure the original “Radioactive Fanboy,” whoever and wherever he (or she) may be, that I came up with the name independently and am in no way trying to steal from him (or her).
After reading Thursday’s strip and rant, Mike Gallagher was kind enough to provide the following info:
Hi, this is Mike Gallagher and I am in the studio today to comment on the latest strip on Radioactive Fanboys.
I have not been involved in the production, but that has never stopped Columbia or the few paramount DVDs out there, so here I go.
Yes it actually is called “Movietunes.” It is produced for more than 20 movie chains ACROSS THE GLOBE by NCN (National Cinema Network). They also do our [Carmike’s] preshow slides, but you [Bernhard] don’t get that [in your area]. Movietunes is fueled by corporate America, that is true. NCN says that whomever gives their lawyers the most money gets a track. You can also advertise on Movietunes locally, but it costs a fortune. Movietunes had no more than 3 holiday related songs on their December 2001 disk. A record low in both quality, timeliness and morality. Movietunes boasts over 3 billion listeners this month. You may notice that this changes month to month ...
Saturday I said that I’d emailed Image re: animated shorts and other extras on Ultraflicks. Actually, I didn’t get around to it until today, but anyway I’ll let you know when I know.
My Mom pointed out to me that the mother of the singing library child (see Saturday’s rant - again!) wouldn’t have been allowed to leave her daughter in the children’s library while she was upstairs in the “grown-up” library due to some law about leaving children under 12 alone. Maybe, but I still suspect that it never even occurred to her that she might have an alternative to boring the child out of her gourd and annoying those of us who expect libraries to be quiet. sigh!
Now about today’s strip: Yes, I really suck at Bomberman (even at the easiest level with only one computer controlled oponent), yes the Monroe girls really exist (they’re the daughters of Karl and “Cousin” Sue Monroe, Otakon’s current Merchandise & Signs Department Head and Con Chair, respectively). I have yet to play the game with them (though coincidentally I’ve lent them the GBA cartridge), but from what I’ve heard of their prowess and know of mine, I have every faith that they would indeed whoop my butt (especially with all the practice they’re getting from my cart!). No, they don’t have cute little outfits like that.
Just go the new Nintendo Power. The official Mario Sunshine screenshots didn’t reveal much more than the unofficial ones, but there were some nice cheat codes for Rogue Leader, and the DBZ RPG for GBA sounds interesting. In other words, much as my friends might tease me, I don’t regret subscribing. Pika!
That’s about all I can think of, so I guess I’ll end it here. See you Thursday!
